Blood Test at Home: Omega Balance at a Finger-tip

The balance of omega-3 and omega-6 highly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFA) gives a useful health risk assessment value. The balance of omega-3 and omega-6 HUFA is seen with a simple finger-tip blood spot assay.  It measures all of the EFA and tells you the current balance of n-3 and n-6 HUFA that you accumulated from the foods you ate.

Each food’s Omega 3-6 Balance Score gives you the likely impact of eating that food on future blood test assays. Foods with a positive Score will raise the %n-3 in HUFA.  Foods with a negative score will raise the %n-6 in HUFA. Look up food scores on the apps that are on this website, Omega Meals and pdf files. Use them to NIX the 6 while you EAT the 3.

Radio talks by Doug Bibus and Bill Lands  tell more about the blood test for health risk assessment. If you are interested in taking this blood test, this link http://lipidlab.com/  http://omega3test.com/ goes to the Lipid Technologies site. The test result tells you if your health risk assessment (HRA) value is where you want it to be. Two efaeducation.org webpages show you how a high HRA value associates with many healthcare costs and many causes of death.

If your organization is a partner in the Balance Study, please check with your wellness coordinator about the special group discount for the blood test of Study participants.
